SETU FOUNDATION is an independent, registered voluntary organization which has been working for social changes in Garhwal region of Himalayas in North India, Since year 2000. SETU Foundation is progressively trying to be a part of India’s growing voluntary support to social development. The organization is continuously contributing in providing humanitarian assistance, accessing and disseminating development related policies, implementing Socio-economic development programs and making these all accessible to community and grassroots CBOs through the finacial support of Govt./nongovernment organizations and community contribution in order to facilitate social changes and development in distinctive ways.

SETU FOUNDATION, contributed its complete efforts in the field of Health & sanitation, medicinal plant cultivation, women empowerment, Solid Waste Management, Disability, Disaster relief, Child Health, Gender issue and Death-Birth Registration in District Dehradun,Chamoli, Tehri and Pauri Garhwal, and Haridwar respectively.
GOVERNING BODY:
The Foundation is managed and governed by the Managing Committee. The office bearers and members of the Managing Committee are elected every year in the General Body Meeting. The Managing Committee has a maximum strength of 9 members including President, Vice-President, joint-secretary, Secretary and Treasurer. The Secretary is the CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of the Setu Foundation. It is her duty to discharge her responsibilities towards the day-to-day management of the affairs of Setu Foundation. In order to assess the progress and outcomes of the Program or assuring proper implementation of the program office bearers and members also pay frequent visits to the office or center and program areas. The meetings of the Managing Committee are held at regular intervals to discuss the affairs and working of the Foundation.

WE WISH;
- To endeavors to address the critical issues of community like health, sanitation, viable living environment, education, income generation, discrimination at any level, and other constraints creating unavoidable living challenges to unprivileged section of society and facilitate the inclusion of that section of society in mainstream development through advocacy programs, capacity building at various levels, access and disseminate development related policies, programs and projects of the government and make these accessible to under privileged section of society and to build up a resource centre for overall developmental activities.
- To attempt to protect culture and environment with optimal utilization of natural resources. Besides this facilitate and support relief work during human made/natural disasters phases in properly planned manner as support capacity building programs for social workers and rural and urban volunteers for relief and rehabilitation work in areas affected or prone to natural/man-made calamities.
- To support all advocacy and campaign for different disability groups and marginalized sections of society like women, tribal and backward communities. Along with this promote and support all efforts of advocacy and research on people’s rights issues; and campaign for the same at different levels.
- To create a focus on “youth” as a specific category with a view to integrating them wholly into all mainstream activities, whether social , economic, cultural or educational.
- To disseminate information on national and international laws & conventions related to development specially women, with a view to accessing these for gender equity.
- To protect, promote and facilitate a cultural platform for ancient customs, traditions and for other cultural aspects of the hill region of Uttarakhand.
- To work for development of sustainable tourism in collaboration with Government bodies or other voluntary organization to creating job opportunities and generating incomes through innovative tourism packages.

Some Recent Interventions:
- Beauty Care Training Program with THDC India SEVA, Uttarakhand For under privileged section of society (girls and women).
- Solid Waste Management. with Nagar Nigam, Dehradun under JNNURM program
- SAKSHAM program on the issue of Disability in district dehradun, Uttarakhand, with CBM-SARO
- Include Vidya Campaign : Self Assessment for teachers on an Inclusive educational facilities in School of block Doiwala, Dehradun (Funded by CBM-SARO)
- Providing physiotherapy services : Physiotherapy of some special need school children in block Doiwala, Dehradun with the financial support of Block Resource Center (Education department, Uttarakhand)
- School Herbal Garden program : Foundation has been established herbal gardens in schools with the objective of educating students about medicinal plants and conservation of medicinal plants. The State Medicinal Plant Board, Uttarakhand provided financial and technical support for implementation of this program.
- BUDS Academy : BUDS Academy is a Primary education program for less privileged children, initiated from March 2016. BUDS ACADEMY is providing English medium primary education to less privileged children (Mostly dropouts) with the aim of mainstreaming of these less privileged children’s primary education and improving their life style. The program is providing nursery grooming to primary education up to 5th standard or hopefully will be preceded to further advance standard as per the interest and need of beneficiaries and support of stakeholders and patrons. Buds Academy Schooling Program, Mansa devi aims to be the pioneer of primary educational centers dedicatedly committed towards nurturing and fostering eminence. In addition foundation attempting to improve the financial status of concerning families through skill development and adult education as healthy and illiterate family support needed for upbringing of the child.
- Enforcement of PCPNDT Act with PCPNDT Committee Haridwar(Govt. of Uttarakhand) for effective implementation of the act. As a member of the committee Foundation deal with following ;
- To Assist PCPNDT Committee Haridwar for effective implementation of PCPNDT act.
- To Supervise and monitor of Ultrasound Centers.
- To aware community against sex selective abortion.
- To aware and strengthen PRIs for pregnancy registration and maintaining records for CSR etc.
- Awareness Campaign against sex selective abortion With financial support of PCPNDT committee, Haridwar, in block Roorkee. and with the financial support of PLAN INDIA, in Bahadarabaad block, Haridwar district.
- Swachhata Action Plan: The Swachhata Action Plan was one of the milestone initiatives performed by the SETU
foundation as part of its commitment with the development of a hygienic and healthy environment in the region, combining both direct actions as well as programs for sensitization and awareness rising. The different activities under this programs had been conducted by the SETU foundation along with the collaboration of SEVA-THDC Rishikesh. Many awareness meetings with different stakeholders, cleanliness campaigns, wall paintings, school competitions, organic pit construction, and sanitary pad distribution, school toilet construction etc. has been done under this program in Rishikesh and nearby villages. - SOLAR Pump promotion program: With the financial support of SEWA- THDC, Rishikesh Foundation conducted an ICE campaign for the promotion of solar pump under KUSUM program run by the GOVT.
